He did his M. Sc in Physics in 1995 from HNB Garhwal University Srinagar Garhwal. He has completed D. Phil in physics from HNB Garhwal University, Srinagar garhwal in 2000. He has also worked as a Research asscociate at IIT Delhi. Moreover, he has worked as a Scientist in MNRE sponsored research project. Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi has given Young Scientist award to Dr. Purohit in 2005. He has also received Young Scientist Award from Uttarakhand Council of Science & Technology in 2007 and 2010 respectively. The field of his research interest is Laser plasma interaction and solar thermal utilization.
